The Vladimir Potanin Foundation
was established in 1999 for the implementation of socially significant projects in the sphere of domestic education and culture. The Russian Chemists Union
consolidates leading production companies of Russian chemical industry, research and educational institutions as well as chemistry-related Unions, Associations and vertically integrated structures ("Sybur", "FosAgro", "LUKOIL-Neftechim", "EuroChim", "Nizhnekamskneftechim", etc.). Russian chemical industry today is a large and complex system that incorporates petrochemical and chemical industries and other related branches. To comply with complex structure of chemical industry, the RCU is managed by the Board, formed by 36 professionals, each one being responsible for his specific sector of chemical industry. The Union is lead by the President and nine Vice-Presidents. In its everyday business, the Union in involved in the development of technical regulations and legal acts concerning the circulation of chemicals and precursors, as well as other routine issues related to chemical industry. One of the key partners of the RCU is Russian Chemical Trade Union which was a counterpart and signatory to the 2005-06 Industrial Tariff Agreement for Chemical, Petrochemical, Biochemical and Pharmaceutical Industries. The Agreement has provided stable labor relations, secured efficient operation of chemical companies, protected social and economic rights and other legal privileges of the employees. Russian Chemical Union is one of the organizers for national and international industrial fairs and shows, held on the largest Russian sites: "Chemistry", "Plastics Industry Show", "InterLakokraska", "Tires and Rubber", "Bytchimexpo", "ExpoChemistry", "UralExpoChemistry", "AnalyticaExpo", "ChAgExpo" and others. The Union pays utmost attention to international co-operation. As an example, the Union has signed a "Responsible Care" Protocol to urge Russian companies on voluntary compliance to international standards and regulations for labor safety and environment protection. Although Joint Stock Company SIBUR Holding appeared on the business scene as late as in December 2005, it has already made a name for itself in and outside Russia. In fact, many specialists associate it with JSC AK Sibur that was by right considered a leader of the national petrochemistry in the recent years. JSC SIBUR Holding is a vertically integrated setup that processes considerable volumes of hydrocarbon stock in Russia all along the line starting from primary treatment all the way to consumer product manufacturing. The enterprises that make up the Holding produce over one hundred petrochemical products. From the strategic viewpoint it's of vital importance that SIBUR Holding is a major subsidiary of JSC Gazprom. Thanks to Gazprom's support, its petrochemical subsidiary Sibur managed to survive the year 2002, which was really tough for the Company, and significantly increased production and operation efficiency. The Gazprom Board of Directors' decision of February 4, 2005 to establish a new company on the basis of JSC AK Sibur's petrochemical assets marked the final stage in petrochemical business reorganization. The "NANOMETER" Portal
is an MSU project. The portal has a wide target audience - from pupils to Academy members; its goals are popularizing nanomaterial and nanotechological knowledge and searching for entrants, as well as taking it upon itself to organize an active co-operation among Russian scientific groups. The portal publishes educational articles and digest materials, hosting a unique gallery of real-life scientific photographs.
